Thursday Restaurant Review - Hell's Kitchen

Normally Greg and I have a date night on Wednesday nights where we take turns treating each other to dinner. Whoever has the week, picks the place, drives and pays. Greg was home sick yesterday so we didn't go out but because I want to get in the habit of blogging about our restaurant adventures I decided to talk a bit about our Sunday breakfast instead. As a special treat, we took Andrea with us and had breakfast at Hell's Kitchen in Minneapolis. http://www.hellskitcheninc.com/ We had reservations so were able to avoid being in the always present long line of people waiting out on the sidewalk. Even though we had told Andrea what to expect, she seemed a bit surprised that the staff really wore pajamas to work. I think now that she knows they are in pajamas she may spend less time getting ready the next time she gets a chance to eat here. Then again, she is fifteen, so maybe not.

We all had a cup of their wonderful coffee (yep, even Andrea) which is served from a red coffee pot (that I would love to have for our kitchen) into wonderful big white cups that fit so perfect in my hands. Despite being there only for the homemade peanut butter, Andrea ordered the Nearly-Classic Egg Benedict along with her side order of toast which ensured her unlimited supply of the peanut butter. She was impressed with the homemade Ketchup and thought Sarah should join us next time just to sample that little gem! Greg had his usual Huevos Rancheros, which he always claims are the best he's had anywhere, along with a side order of toasted sausage bread. I ventured away from my steel-cut oatmeal with fresh fruit and instead had the Lemon-Ricotta Hotcakes with fresh fruit. Instead of syrup, I had a bit of the homemade berry preserves with my hotcakes and fruit. My taste buds were very, very happy! Of course we purchased two jars of the peanut butter to take with us so we can relive a little of the experience every morning. Yum!!!!!

I loved getting to "live" your dining experience!! We just started making ricotta pancakes for breakfast at home this summer-yum! You should ask if they'll sell you the coffee pot & cups-I bet you won't be the 1st person!
