Thursday Restaurant Review (on Monday) - Chai's Thai
Greg and I delayed our Wednesday night dinner until Friday when, along with Andrea, we met up with friends, Jill and Subba from St. Cloud for dinner at Chai's Thai. Since we don't normally eat out on Fridays it took me a bit by surprise how busy it was. Also, the decor had been recently updated to include a long bench with cushions against one wall which limited the seating options for larger groups so a table for five ended up being quite cozy.

We started our meal with fresh spring rolls, which I think must be one of Andrea's favorite foods of all time. They were delicious and I especially enjoyed the peanut sauce option. Andrea was shocked to find out hot sauce was available by request and she had missed out on this during her previous visits.
Andrea had her standard two entrees - the Chicken Panang and the Yellow Curry Fried Rice with Chicken. I swear this girl has dreams about these two dishes.
Greg had the special which was a pumpkin curry, served in a carved out pumpkin. It was a red curry and came with a choice of chicken, tofu or shrimp. Greg chose the shrimp option.
Jill and Subba also had the Pumpkin curry with shrimp as well as a green curry. Chai's was more than happy to make this dish vegetarian, which they will do with everything on the menu except for the egg rolls.
I went with the Ginger Roasted Duck which I forgot to ask to have at less than the "medium" heat that the dishes are typically made with. I was sure glad the dishes came with rice, which really helped cut the heat for me.
To end the meal, our friends had the green tea ice cream while Greg, Andrea and I split the Fried Banana Cinnamon with Green Tea ice cream substituted for the vanilla ice cream. It was divine!!!!!

You've made my mouth water, Sue!
This post may just be the inspiration I need to try my own curry. I've been meaning to for awhile now.
