Joan Baez

What a week of music this has ended up being! In addition to picking up the new Ingrid Michaelson CD and seeing Amos Lee, Thursday morning at work I had Joan Baez concert tickets offered to me. not just any tickets, but 4th row center tickets at the State Theater so how could I pass that up?!! Greg really wanted to see her with me but just wasn't feeling well enough to go (nobody enjoys someone coughing and sneezing during a conert) so I went with Joanie! As we walked in the door, Joan and her band were taking the stage. We had to stand in back for the first number but were seated before she started her next song. Joan looked fabulous! Hard to believe she's 67! She informed the audience that this was the 50th anniversary of her career, which met with huge applause from the audience. She seemed serene and happy during the concert interacting spontaneously with the audience and transitioning between classics and songs off her new album. With her still strong voice, easygoing humor and mix of songs, she kept the audience right with her for the entire concert. One of the new songs, God is God really showcased the incredible musicians that made up her back-up band (guitarist John Doyle, bassist, Todd Phillips and everything else string Dirk Powell). She ended the show with a sing along of Amazing Grace - it was a beautiful way to end a beautiful evening! Thanks, Joan!!!

Lucy you! I am so glad it was a wonderful evening.....it is hard for me to believe she is 67....it was just a couple of years ago that she was in her 20's and singing in Boulder! :)
Have a great weekend!

Man, to look half that good at 67 would make me happy. I'm not familiar with her music. I'll have to check her out. Glad you had a good time! Isn't seeing live music inspiring?
