Giada is at Target!
I was walking through Target during my lunch break today and stumbled across a whole new section of cooking items by Giada De Laurentiis. I've been watching her At Home show lately and have truly been inspired to try some of her recipes. (Her fruit spring rolls and dipping sauce were a fantastic addition to our New Year's Eve menu!) I've also been checking out various versions of Panini Pans and have been intrigued by the various stove top presses. So when I saw this, I was stopped in my tracks! It's cast iron and so cool looking that I think it may have to find a home in our kitchen someday! And when it does, I will have to break it in with Giada's own recipe. YUM!!!!!!!
Panini with Chocolate and Brie
12 slices sourdough bread 1/3 cup extra–virgin olive oil 12 ounces Brie cheese, thinly sliced 1 (12–ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips 1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
Preheat panini grill pan over medium heat. Brush both sides of bread with olive oil. Place on grill pan and cover with press. Grill bread slices until they begin to turn golden, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from pan and place 2 slices of cheese on one slice of bread, top with 1/3 cup chocolate chips and sprinkle with basil. Top with another slice of bread. Continue with the remaining sandwiches. Return sandwiches to grill pan and cover with press. Grill until chocolate begins to melt, about another 2 minutes. Makes 6 servings Giada De Laurentiis 2008
