Let's Rock
What do you get when you combine the Concert Orchestra with the Concert Choir and mix in a small little staff brass, sax, drum, guitar and vocal group calling themselves "Staff Infection"? You get a Symphonic Rock Concert that was the most fabulous way for the music despartment to end its school year! The idea for this concert came about as a way to raise funds to help students at the school who are in need of anything from groceries to shoes. Ticket sales alone last night raised $10,00 for this fund and additional money was raised through the purchase of the lime green t-shirts the kids wore, collections taken during the concert and the purchase of ice cream donated by Cold Stone Creamery.
Just as impressive, the kids pulled together this two hour concert in a mere 4 days and they brought the house down with selections that ranged from Carmina Burana - O Fortuna (Andrea's favorite from the night and an incredible way to open the second half of the concert), to the Moody Blues, Doobie Borthers, Styx, Elton John, Van Morrison, Huey Lewis and the News and, one of my favorites from the past, Head East!
I do think the lighting designer was thrilled to have the new laser lights and fog machines that were used for the show. Gave it quite a Symphonic Rock feel, don't you think?
And then I wanted to share another layout that I finished as part of an anniversary celebration challenge at Scrapsupply. Darby's nose is definately one of his most notable features!
